Education

The Armstrong-Indiana-Clarion Drug and Alcohol Commission's Tobacco program works to educate through three program areas: Prevention, promoting quitting, and eliminating exposure.

Programs

Prevent the initiation of tobacco use among young people

Includes school and college programs, enforcement compliance checks, Youth Tobacco Survey, and the Synar Survey.

Promote quitting among adults and young people

Includes PA Quitline, community and school-based cessation programs, and availability of tobacco cessation pharmaceuticals (TCP).

Eliminate nonsmokers’ exposure to secondhand smoke

Includes clean indoor air for work places, restaurants, and public places.

 

Joint Efforts

The Armstrong-Indiana Tobacco Free Initiative joined efforts with the Armstrong-Indiana Drug Free Communities Coalition in 2008/2009 to raise awareness in the communities concerning tobacco prevention, education, and cessation.

The Clarion Tobacco Free Initiative joined efforts with the Clarion Drug Free Coalition in 2011 to raise awareness in the communities concerning tobacco prevention, education, and cessation.
